Pin Board with Drawers and Pegs

Dimensions: Height 18.5 inches, Width 24.75 inches, Depth 5.5 inches, Weight 9 pounds. The two areas above the drawers feature upholstery fabric over thick cork. This piece could easily serve two different functions. You could use it as messaging center and organizer for an entryway, mudroom, hallway, kitchen, living room, den or office. Imagine using pushpins to display notes, pictures, and so on; storing keys and other small items in the drawers; and hanging coats, umbrellas, aprons, etc., on the pegs. Alternatively, in a bedroom, bathroom or dressing room, you could use it as vanity or personal storage item. Imagine a little mirror or perfume bottles sitting on the shelf; jewelry hanging from pushpins or put away in the drawers; and clothing, belts, scarves, or towels hanging from the pegs. The Story

I found this piece in an alley in my Glover Park neighborhood of D.C. I rescued and refinished it for more function and a fresher, prettier appearance. I began by cutting away the three convex curves up top into less fussy-looking convex curves. I also changed the bottom two outside square edges into complementary convex curves. I used one of my favorite colors, a khaki-pale green paint (Benjamin Moore satin “Seaspray”). In the two open areas, I added ½-inch thick cork board covered with a favorite upholstery fabric from Joann. I also used it for the new inset drawer fronts.
