I found what looked like part of a reader’s/writer’s desk in an alley in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of D.C. I disassembled it and used the main piece to make a custom leash hanger at the request of a dog-loving friend. She mentioned that turquoise and gray were common colors in her house, so I chose a turquoise spray paint but partly rubbed and sanded it off to create a more distressed look. I carved the pawprints to match the actual pawprint of her dog. I hand painted the pawprints and the frame gray.
